This morning started out with Mimi calling for her breakfast at 0730. No dice! Sleep in day, plus Kristin Cashore's excellent YA book Fire was calling even louder--I know, hard to imagine if you've ever heard The Bad Biscuit in full, indignant Feed Me! cry. The sheep chimed in about an hour later.
Finally got through sleeping and reading, and rose to a deep green, mysteriously hushed forest. One of those overcast maybe-it-will-rain-maybe-it-won't kind of mornings. Beautiful diffuse light--later, when the hidden sun had risen higher, the newly budded edges of the pines and cedars were lit in luminous pale green. Even the jays were quiet.
Spent most of the day hanging out in the screen tent on the deck working on Devil Dog and Dust, a short story/possible picture book for the young reader crowd. Finally finished first draft, and motivated to start on next writing project and initiate blog. I always do creative work better in stormy or transition weather!
